Modern Slavery & Ethical Trading Statement

01 Scope of this statement

This statement is made by Homart Limited. Our turnover is currently below the £36 million threshold at which section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 makes a statement mandatory, so we publish this voluntarily. We hold ourselves to the standard regardless of whether the law compels us to.

Furniture is a sector with real exposure — timber, textiles, leather tanning and assembly all carry known risks of forced labour. Publishing a statement is the least we can do; auditing the chain is the actual work.

02 Our business and supply chain

We are an online furniture and interiors retailer selling to consumers in the United Kingdom. Our goods are made by a small number of workshops and manufacturers in the UK, the European Union and Asia, and are delivered by our own team and by contracted logistics partners.

Our highest-risk tiers are raw material extraction — timber and cotton — and the tanning and textile finishing stages, which sit further from us than our direct suppliers.

03 Policies and due diligence

• Every supplier signs our Supplier Code of Conduct, which prohibits forced, bonded and child labour, requires freedom of association, and requires wages at or above the legal minimum.
• New suppliers complete a due-diligence questionnaire covering labour practices, recruitment fees, subcontracting and worker documentation before their first order.
• We require the right to audit and reserve the right to visit any production site, announced or unannounced.
• We buy FSC-certified timber wherever it is available, which brings chain-of-custody documentation with it.
• We check the right to work of everyone we employ, and we pay our own delivery teams directly rather than through labour agencies.

04 Training and reporting

Everyone involved in buying or supplier management receives training on identifying the indicators of forced labour and on what to do about them.

Anyone — a member of staff, a supplier, or a member of the public — can raise a concern in confidence by emailing support@homartuk.com. Concerns are investigated, and nobody who raises one in good faith will suffer for it.
